How jaodernei works
Type a sentence and every canton lights up by how much it agrees with you. The answer is not our opinion: it is computed from every federal vote since 2000 whose result the Swissvotes dataset records. Your sentence is matched against propositions that say what a Yes or a No in each of those votes actually meant. A canton that voted above the Swiss average on the votes you agree with turns green, one that voted below turns blue. Every map lists the votes behind it, with their year, their national result and the weight each one carried.
The seven index votes
Some of the best questions are not about a topic at all, they are about the camps. Seven synthetic votes answer them, computed from the party recommendations and the turnout columns, with no model involved.

- How often a canton voted the way the SVP recommended, averaged over the votes where the SVP took a side.
- Voting with the Greens
- How often a canton voted the way the Greens recommended, averaged over the votes where the Greens took a side.
- Voting with the Federal Council
- How often a canton voted the way the Federal Council recommended, averaged over the votes where it recommended anything.
- Voting with the business lobby
- How often a canton voted the way the business lobby recommended, averaged over the votes where it took a side.
- Voting with the trade unions
- How often a canton voted the way the trade unions recommended, averaged over the votes where they took a side.
- Showing up to vote
- The canton's average turnout across every vote, against the national average turnout.

Everything the maps are drawn from is public. Here is where it comes from and on what terms.

Unofficial English
The English summaries and the propositions they produce are our own, unofficial, and written by a model. Only the vote titles, the dates and the numbers come from the official sources.
What we record
Every question is stored, so the next person who asks it gets the same map instantly, together with anonymous usage numbers: how many questions were asked, how many people asked them, and from which country. There are no cookies, no accounts and no addresses, and the visitor hash behind those counts cannot be linked across days or back to a person.
